Rx Direct is the trading name of Saffron Apothecaries (Leicester) Limited. We have been a family business going back since 1976. Employing only experienced pharmacists and healthcare professionals. A fully registered pharmacy, we aim to bring the customer focused approach of a bricks and mortar pharmacy into the digital world. Customer experience is at the heart of everything that we do
RX direct enables seamless prescribing of private prescriptions by healthcare practitioners removing the need for hand-written, paper-based prescriptions to be posted to the patient or pharmacy, and also allows for healthcare practitioners to incorporate the cost of medicines into the patient's treatment plan.
RX direct works off a secure platform and is PCIDSS compliant and no payment details are stored. Patient receives a secure payment link and can make payment when convenient to them by using their tablet, mobile or PC. Delivery tracking is available to both Prescribers and Patients and alternative delivery addresses can be used if more convenient.

RX Direct is a registered pharmacy, licensed and governed by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), meaning all processes are carried out internally, by our UK graduate and registered pharmacists. All information will be processed using our approved software and servers making your information remains safe, confidential and dealt with in-line with GPhC codes of conduct so we can provide you with patient centred care.
As with the NHS EPS system, RX Direct means an end to the requirement for an original, paper prescription in order to legally dispense medication to private patients.
Our electronic prescription services have been carefully developed using advanced electronic signatures for compliance with the Medicines for Human Use (Prescribing) Order 2005 and designed to ensure:

Every doctor or clinician has been identity checked upon registration

Every Clinician has their identity checked and all appropriate documents must be submitted prior to gaining access to the plat form

Each prescription generated is uniquely linked to that prescriber

The signature generated is unique to the prescription

Only the prescriber has access to their account

That data is secure and can’t be changed once the prescription has been issued.
